Mykonos: Awarded Best European Island

Good and possitive news is always welcome, amid endless political cooperations ahead the 2nd round of local elections on Sunday and rumors of  two-digit billion  euros missing from the state purse.
Mykonos has won the  Conde Nast Traveler  2010 Readers’ Choice Award  as the Best European Island! Readers of the largest travel magazine in the USA gave a 78 score to the picturesque Greek island. Mykonos topped first and followed by competitive islands  in the Mediterranean and Southern Europe Category. Ibiza 75,7 score, Capri 75, Madeira 75, Mallorca 74,5.

Mykonos has been the honey pot for many travelling bees around the world for decades. Hollywood stars, European royals and Business VIPs have been paying a visit to the island enjoying its cosmopolitan and lavish 5* hotels atmosphere. Lady Gaga  became the target of dozens tourists’ cameras and started to run when she visited Mykonos last October -watch the video here.

Weird enough 2nd in the category is stated ” Bozcaada & Turkish Aegean Islands” with a score of 76,8! And I say “weird” as Bozcaada (Greek: Tenedos) in the North-East Aegean Sea has hardly foreign tourists exept from expatriates visiting the island during the month of August. Second Turkish island on the Aegean is Gökçeada (Imvros) that has a similar touristic fate as Bozcaada. More Turkish islands are practically non-existing….
The No. 1 winner (for the 14th time) worldwide  is  Maui , the only island to score above 90 points this year.
